School district to open some facilities, but people, activities to be limited . . . . .
Erie, PA – The Harbor Creek School District is set to open its high school athletic complex, including Paul J. Weitz Stadium, according to an announcement on Twitter Thursday.
The facilities will open Monday, but the tennis courts will remain closed until Erie County goes into the green phase of the state’s reopening plan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The guidelines to open the facilities include no more than 25 people at a time in each facility. Normal business hours will apply with the stadium opening at 7:15 a.m. and closing at 7:45 p.m.
Activities are restricted to wellness and fitness activities such as walking, jogging, calisthenics, playing catch or passing a soccer ball. Social distancing will be required with any group activities, and physical contact will be prohibited.
The announcement also said that if Erie County were to return to the red phase at any point, the facilities would be closed until further notice.
Harbor Creek is one of the first schools to announce the reopening of a facility, even in a limited way, since the coronavirus shutdown began.
