LOUISVILLE, Ky. —The site of a motel off Interstate 65 in Southern Indiana would be radically transformed under a new proposal, according to our media partner Louisville Business First.
The Clarksville Redevelopment Commission has approved plans to pursue an indoor sports complex at the site of the America’s Best Inn and Suites at 342 Eastern Blvd. The Town of Clarksville purchased the 4.1-acre property this summer, and the previous owner was Rivers Edge Investment Co. Inc., according to a News and Tribune report.
The Clarksville Redevelopment Commission is now sending out requests for proposals from developers and facility operators who would lease the land from the town and serve as the developer and manager of the complex, according to a news release.
While the size and scope of such a complex was not defined, the town said it wants to establish a facility that could become a destination for regional and national youth basketball and indoor volleyball tournaments.
